CTD kills nine 'terrorists' in Sheikhupura raid

SHEIKHUPURA: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel late on Tuesday killed nine suspected terrorists and seized arms and explosives from them.

The CTD team conducted a raid in Khairu ki Maliyan area of Sheikhupura, a CTD spokesman said. The exchange of fire between the two sides left nine 'terrorists' dead.

Officials said that nearly four to five accomplices of the deceased terrorists managed to flee during the gun battle.

The counter-terrorism personnel also seized arms, ammunition and explosives from the dead terrorists. "The cache included five Kalashnikovs, five handguns, several rounds and 6 kg explosive material," officials added.

On October 16, six terrorists affiliated with an outlawed organisation were killed in an encounter in Sheikhupura.

The law enforcers had placed a security check at Faisalabad Bypass Road after being tipped of terrorists' presence. They had signaled a car and two motorcycles to pull over and the terrorists had opened fire.

The retaliatory fire had killed six terrorists.
