KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah said on Wednesday that Dr Asim Hussain would be released soon, expressing his confidence in the judicial system.

The chief minister said Dr Asim was kept by the federal government for the last year and a half; soon his bail requests in two other cases will be filed.

Dr Asim Hussain was granted bail by the Sindh High Court in the terrorism facilitation case. In this case, Dr Asim was accused of providing shelter and treatment to terrorists and criminals at his private medical facility.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also spoke about Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and how to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman had not made any mention of mid-term elections.“The constitution permits mid-term elections, but for us the victory is democracy being strengthened,” Murad said, adding that demands made by Bilawal were for this purpose.

Speaking on the National Action Plan (NAP), Murad said apex committee meetings would continue until the plan was in place. He stressed that it was the prime minister’s decision on extending the tenure of the current Army chief or appointing a new one.

The chief minister speaking about the early closure of wedding hall and markers said there were efforts to reach a consensus on this matter.

Attack on Majlis

The chief minister said the attack on a Majlis in Karachi was a security lapse. He added that investigations into this attack were underway.

Five people, four of them from the same family were killed when gunmen opened fire at a Majlis taking place in the Nazimabad area of the city.
