Hafeez to undergo re-testing of bowling action on Nov 17

KARACHI: Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is set to undergo re-testing on his bowling action later this month in an attempt to resume bowling in international cricket.

According to sources, Hafeez will undergo biomechanics test on his bowling action on November 17 in ICC accredited lab at Brisbane, Australia.

Hafeez was suspended by International Cricket Council (ICC) from bowling in international cricket last year after being reported twice in a period of 12 months. His ban expired in July earlier this year, making him eligible to appear for re-test on his action.

Since then, Hafeez has been working on his bowling action. Earlier this month, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requested ICC to arrange retest on his bowling action.

Although the PCB initially wanted to have tests conducted in Loughborough but due to unavailability of the lab, the tests will now be done in Australia.

“Mohammad Hafeez’s test (on bowling action) confirmed in Brisbane on November 17th,” said a spokesman of ICC.

According to decided rules, the report to determine the bowling future of Mohammad Hafeez will be presented 14 days after the Tests.

PCB has already made it clear that if he (Hafeez) fails to clear the tests again, then his comeback to the side will be difficult.

“If he fails to clear his test once again, it will be extremely difficult for the selection committee to include him in the national side," Shahryar Khan said earlier.

Mohammad Hafeez will leave for Australia on November 14.
