CJP directs authorities to block his fake Facebook account

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has directed authorities to block a fake Facebook account operating by his name, Supreme Court spokesman said on Thursday.

The spokesman clarified that the CJP does not use any social media account.

Justice Jamali has also instructed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to take action against those operating his fake account under relevant law.

Under the recently passed Cybercrime Bill, the FIA has carried out multiple arrests, many of them involving people who operated fake Facebook profiles.

The FIA lodged its first case under the law on September 25 against a youth for blackmailing a girl and uploading her pictures on social media.
