PHF names 26 probables for Junior Hockey WC in India

KARACHI: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has named 26 probables for next month’s FIH Junior Hockey World Cup to be played in Lucknow, India.

The 16-team event will be played in the Indian city of Lucknow from December 8 to 18.

According to PHF, all 26 players are advised to report at the camp in Lahore’s Johar Town Hockey Stadium from November 12.

The probables include three goalkeepers Ali Raza, Muneeb-ur-Rehman & Hafiz Ali Umair. Full backs Atif Mushtaq, Hassan Anwar, Mubashar Ali & Zahidullah are also invited to attend the camp in Lahore.

Forwards Shan Irshad, Azfar Yaqoob, M.Dilber, M.Atiq Arshad, Bilal Qadir, Mohsin Sabir, Rana Sohail Riaz, Samiullah, M.Rizwan, M.Naveed, Fahadullah Khan & Umar Hamdi along with seven half-backs Abu Bakr Mahmood, Faizan, Junaid Kamal, M.Usman, Tazeemul Hassan, M.Adnan & Ammad Shakeel Butt are also included in the probable players for the event.

Former captain Tahir Zaman has already been named as team’s head coach for the event.

Pakistan has been placed in pool B with Belgium, Egypt and Netherlands. The team is scheduled to play the opening match on December 9th against Netherlands.

The green shirts will play against Egypt on 11th and Belgium on 12th of December.
