14-year-old girl escapes marriage to 60-year-old man in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: A 14-year-old bride ran away from her wedding to a 60-year-old man in Ali Pur Chatha area.

The young bride who sought refuge at her relative's house claimed that her mother had arranged the marriage in exchange of Rs 25000.

"After my father died my mother had married again. I ran away because I did not want to live with the old man," she said, speaking to Geo News.

A case has been registered in the Ali Pur Chatha police station.

According to the law minimum age for marriage among girls is 16 years.
