Nawabshah track repaired; train service restored
NAWABSHAH: The train service has been restored after the railway lines in Nawabshah portion were blown up yesterday; also, another bomb planted at down track has been neutralized, Geo News reported Wednesday.

Down track bomb could have damaged Khyber Mail and Tezgam, which fortunately escaped devastation.

It should be mentioned here that bomb blasts were rigged to up and down tracks at outer signal in front of a local sugar mill of Nawabshah. One bomb went off a little before the arrival of a freight train and Karachi-bound Khyber Mail and Karachi-bound Tezgam that left from Rawalpindi, were slated to pass from the down track.

Station Master Abdur Rashid Mehr said as soon as the blast news was received, Khyber Mail was stopped at Bachheri Railway Station, Tezgam Express at Dor Railway Station and freight train was held back a furlong from the blast site.

The shards from the blast fell at a nearby locality, causing however, no fatality.

Heavy contingent of police and the Rangers cordoned off the blast site and neutralized the bomb found from down track.

Blast caused damage to filter plant and water tank installed nearby.

According to Railways officials, the terrorists wanted to target Khyber Mail and Tezgam Express, which were lucky to escape this eventuality.
