KARACHI: Asma Khan, a student of Bachelor of Arts at the Federal Urdu University, searched universities’ program brochures and asked questions from Omar Khan, manager at Fulbright Outreach & Education USA who is advising at an educational fair organised by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) at a local hotel in Karachi.
Asma is one of several students with questions about their respective academic disciplines who are directing their queries at more than 30 counters of representatives from US colleges and universities.
According to Omar Khan, it's the 4th alumni fair in Karachi. “We provide consultancy and try our best to guide students who wish to study at US institutes,” he said.
“The representatives of the universities are alumni of the universities as well, so they are able to share their own personal experiences with the students,” Khan added.
John Warner, Public Affairs Officer at US Consulate General Karachi, said financial support including full scholarships are also provided by many institutions.
“Schools in the United States are looking for foreign students to provide them with quality education and boost their future prospects,” Warner added.
After Karachi, the fair will also be organised in Lahore, Islamabad and other parts of Pakistan.
Students from different government and private universities and colleges have participated in the fair and urge the authorities to organise more events like this.
