ISLAMABAD: Police on Friday registered a case against deceased British-Pakistani national Samia Shahid and her second husband Mukhtar Kazim, sources said.
According to police sources, the case was registered over fake divorce papers and marriage certificate.
The case was filed on behalf of Haq Nawaz, a cousin of Samia’s father.
The case has also nominated Kazim’s father and brother, sources said.
Police sources said that case was registered under sections 468, 420 and 471 in Mangla police station.
Samia Shahid’s first husband Chaudhry Shakeel had confessed to strangulating her to death. The high-profile 'honour killing' had gained much attention.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had replied to British Labour MP Naz Shah's letter to him on the investigation of the case, saying that Pakistani authorities are “actively pursuing” the murder case of Samia Shahid.
The 28-year-old girl from Bradford had been visiting her family in Jhelum when she was murdered in July. Her second husband, Mukhtar Syed Kazam who is the complainant in the case, had raised concerns that his wife had been murdered because her family disapproved of their marriage.
