MANCHESTER: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan said that he was surprised that senior lawyer Hamid Khan had decided to recuse himself from the Panama Leaks case.
Speaking to media at Manchester Airport, the PTI Chairman said: “Don’t know how media pressure mounted on Hamid Khan,” he added, “We would accept decision of the Supreme Court, even if it’s against us”.
He said that it’s the first time in history that the country`s chief executive is present before the courts for his accountability.
The PTI chief further added that in the Panama Leaks case, the burden of proof is on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, not on his party.
He said that it is a good omen for the country that the Supreme Court wants to conclude the Panama Leaks case without any unnecessary delay.
Khan confirmed that he would return back to Pakistan on Sunday.
Earlier, Hamid Khan spoke to Geo News and said “after media’s campaign against me, it was not possible to continue with the case’s proceedings.”
“We lawyers have our own way of presenting a case, which is why I refused to continue with the case,” he said, adding that he informed Imran that he cannot 'fight the battle on the media front."
