KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had to divert a flight inbound from Toronto to Lahore after the aircraft toilet drainage system malfunctioned on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the airline's spokesperson the drainage malfunctioned because a passenger disposed a solid object in the toilet.
The statement added that since the toilets are connected with a common drain line, all toilets onboard the aircraft were rendered unusable.
The decision to divert the flight was taken in light of passenger convenience. The flight will land at Manchester where the toilets will be serviced after which the flight will continue its onward journey.
Chairman PIA emphasized the need for passengers to adhere to, and carefully read the warnings displayed in the aircraft's toilets.
PK-798 landed in Manchester.
