KARACHI: The inquiry committee and members of the medical board constituted by Sindh CM on Sunday kicked off their proceedings to probe alleged torture of a student of Cadet College Larkana.

Geo News had aired the story of Muhammad Ahmed, student of Cadet College Larkana, who was rendered mute and paralysed due to alleged torture by a teacher. Upon this, Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah had formed a medical board to examine the condition of the child, while the educational institute had also formed an inquiry committee to probe the matter and report its findings.

The inquiry committee on Sunday visited the child and reviewed his medical reports and other details, Muhammad Rashid, father of the victim, told Geo News.

He complained that so far only the matter is being investigated, and they have not been extended assistance with regard to treatment of his son.

Secretary Health Usman Chachar also visited Muhammad Ahmed and his father, and summoned a meeting of the medical board on Monday. He directed the board members to hold a complete medical check-up of the victim.

The senior health official said a decision whether to get Ahmed treated at home or from abroad will be made after the medical check-up of the boy.

The medical board which will examine Ahmed's condition includes child, neuro and ENT experts, as well as a chemical examiner.
