Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited Bara Tehsil of the Khyber Agency on Thursday.
Addressing members of the tribal Jirga, the COAS said Pakistan Army and tribes eliminated the cancer of terrorism. "We have fought this menace of terrorism together over the years, it has woven us eternally in an unbreakable bond," COAS added.
General Raheel Sharif further said soldiers of the Pakistan Army were capable of teaching a lesson to the Indian Army.
He added that India had staged a ‘drama’ of surgical strike. “If Pakistan conducts a surgical strike it would become a part of Indian textbooks,” the Army chief was quoted as saying.
General Raheel emphasised that the Pakistan Army had fought against terrorism and was the strongest in the world.
The Army chief also added that he would be handing over command of the Pakistan Army to the next Chief of Army Staff on November 29.
During the visit, General Raheel Sharif inaugurated the Shahid Afridi stadium.
Earlier, as part of his farewell, COAS visited FATA and Peshawar. At Wana he addressed officers and soldiers from Army and Frontier Corps.
He commended them for successfully unhinging terrorists from their sanctuaries in FATA and destroying their infrastructure. "Alhamdolillah, with support of the nation, we have completed the cycle of counter terrorism operations in such unique and comprehensive way. Our stabilisation ops and resettlement phase are helping us consolidate our gains," COAS said.
