Gamma Knife: a revolutionary equipment for treatment of brain tumor

Renowned Neurologist and former Head of Departure of Neurology Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre Professor Doctor Hashim Raza has said that unawareness about certain diseases was a big issue in Pakistan, saying that it is very rarely seen in masses.

Talking to Geo News, he said that due to unawareness, people themselves suffer as they do not take precautions.

“Cancer is the most common cause of death in South East Asia which can easily be eradicated by preventing measures, early diagnosis and proper treatment including surgical, safe radiation and chemotherapy”, he added.

Dr Raza said that the patients at his M. Hashim Memorial are treated with Gamma Knife and X-Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery, which is only the fifth machine in the world and only one in Pakistan.

Saying about M. Hashim Memorial, he said that unprivileged cancer patients are being treated there which is a service to humanity.
