Transgender to contest PP-78 Jhang by-polls

JHANG: For the first time in city’s history, a transgender would also contest in the by-elections of PP-78 Jhang constituency to be held on December 1.

Mohammad Arif aka Madam Bota would compete against 25 other candidates. However, the real contest would be between PPP’s Sarfraz Rabbani, PTI’s Sheikh Arfa Majeed, PML-N’s Haji Azad Nasir Ansari and independent candidate Maulana Masroor Nawaz Jhangvi.

The seat was left vacant after the PML-N’s candidate Rashida Yaqoob was disqualified by Supreme Court over concealing assets. The election campaign in the constituency would end today.

The Jhang police have declared all 171 polling stations of the constituency as sensitive out of which 17 have been termed as very sensitive.
