Mystery shrouds death of PML-N worker Samia Chaudhry

LAHORE: The mystery surrounding the death of PML-N female worker Samia Chaudhry has yet to be resolved despite three days passed since her body recovered from Lahore's Chamba House.

The investigations involving the mysterious death of the ruling party worker have been delayed, while in a surprising move the police on Tuesday declined to issue her post-mortem report.

They sent her stomach samples to a forensic lab on Tuesday - three days since her body was recovered from a government guest house in Lahore. Officials also postponed further investigation into the mysterious death until receiving of the forensic report.

Three people, including the staffer who had arranged the room for Samia Chaudhry, have been detained by the police, in connection with the death.

Meanwhile, the car under use by Samia Chaudhry has also turned out to be registered in the name of a man, Ashraf.

Samia was a PML-N worker, who was married to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) employee Asif Mahmood, and was a mother of three.  She was a resident of Islamabad and on November 20 had left for Shorkot in a car along with several PML-N workers to attend a political rally.

She stayed in room number 26 on November 22 at the Chamba House where she was found dead under mysterious circumstances by the police on Saturday.

Samia’s husband, Asif Mehmood, took custody of the body and left for Islamabad.

An FIR for murder at the Race Course Police Station has been registered by Samia's husband against unknown persons.

The couple had been married for 19 years.
