LAHORE: A sessions judge on Tuesday handed out a two-year prison term and a fine of Rs30,000 to a man under the cybercrime law.
According to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the convict identified as Yasir Lateef was found guilty of blackmailing women by uploading unethical, photo-shopped pictures of them on social media.
A woman had come forth and filed a complaint with the FIA Lahore against the man for blackmailing her. The agency had then lodged a case against Lateef, a resident of Kharian, this year.
The FIA completed investigation in record time and presented the challan in the sessions court.
This is the first conviction under the cybercrime law passed two months ago.
The first case under the new law was lodged by the FIA on September 25. The investigation agency had arrested a youth for blackmailing a girl and uploading her pictures on social media.
