Kismat Baig killed over professional rivalry, police say

LAHORE: Suspects involved in the murder of stage actress Kismet Baig have been traced, police claimed on Thursday.

According to police, a fellow actress has been found to be involved in the murder. The motive of the murder was professional rivalry, said the police.

As part of the investigation, the police probed Baig’s secretary Ali Afsar Butt, former husband Rana Faheem, gunman-driver Ibrahim Pasha, Faisalabad resident Imran Butt and her fellow actress Mahnoor.

SSP investigation Mushtaq Sukhera said that the suspects will be arrested in 24 hours.

Almost a week ago, unknown gunmen opened fire on stage actress Kismat Baig and her guard as her car passed through Harbanspura area. The gunmen took away her mobile phone and a gold chain in her neck.

She was hit with 12 bullets and loss of excessive blood led to her death, the post-mortem report had revealed.

Baig started her career ten years ago from Gujranwala. She shifted to Lahore four years ago.
