Quaid-e-Azam University to name centre after Dr Abdus Salam

The National Centre at Quaid-e-Azam University will be named Professor Abdus Salam Centre for Physics.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved renaming the National Centre for Physics at Quaid-e-Azam University after Nobel Laureate Dr Abdus Salam.

The new name will be Professor Abdus Salam Centre for Physics after the Pakistani scientists who received the Nobel prize in 1979.

The Prime Minister has directed the education minister to get a summary approved by the President.

Apart from this Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also approved a fellowship programme under his name. Dr Abdus Salam Fellowship programme will offer PhDs to five fellows in the field of physics annually.
