Karachi builders receive extortion threats

KARACHI: Builders in the financial capital of Pakistan have been receiving extortion threats since October, revealed Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani.

During a news conference, the ABAD chairman said extortion money worth Rs 5 million had been demanded from builders in the city. He added that builders were facing hindrances in Nazimabad and Surjani Town areas of the city.

Mohsin Sheikhani further said the mafia had been identified and the group was operating from Lyari. He called on the Corps Commander, Army chief and Prime Minister to take notice of the situation.

According to the ABAD chairman, half of the cases were not being registered due to fear.
