PESHAWAR: The Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) of Sharbat Bibi who gained fame after appearing on the cover of National Geographic during the Afghan war in 1985 has been cancelled by NADRA.
According to NADRA sources, Sharbat Bibi’s CNIC along with that of her sons were blocked. Bibi was identified when she applied for the National Identity Cards (NICs) for her and her sons last year.
NADRA has also launched an inquiry against those personnel who were responsible for issuing the identity cards to Sharbat Bibi and her sons.
The famous photo of the 12-year-old Sharbat has often been compared with Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa.
