Briton jailed for posting Daesh video online

LONDON: A man has been jailed for two years in England for posting a video online supporting Daesh.

Abdul Hamid, 31, pleaded guilty to disseminating a terrorist publication under S2 of the UK Terrorism Act.

Met's Counter Terrorism Command arrested Hamid at his home after identifying that he had posted the video made by Daesh.

The video was viewed hundreds of times and was shared by other users as well.

During investigation the officer's reviewed numerous items seized from his residence including his phones and laptops. During forensic examination officer's discovered a video Hamid had posted on Facebook in which Hamid was striking a salute associated with Daesh and a song linked to the terrorist organization.

Prosecution argued, the homemade video was evidence of Hamid's attempt to emulate Daesh-produced videos and was evidence of his support of the terrorist organization.

Abdul Hamid was charged for his crimes in May this year and was sentenced on 9th December at the Old Bailey.

Citing the power of one post to influence vulnerable people, Commander Dean Haydon said, "officers are working rigorously to ensure that those posting this kind of content online are put before the courts and the material is taken down."
