ISLAMABAD: Railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said that a public apology had never been issued for the fall of Dhaka.
“Those who get angry at statements never bothered to issue an apology over losing one part of the country,” he said, speaking outside the National Assembly on Friday.
“After elections in the 70s if majority was allowed to rule, we would not have lost part of the country,” he said.
“Slogans of ‘we stay here, you stay there’ worked against us,” he said.
“Lessons that we learn from the Fall of Dhaka is that the constitution should be held supreme. Political stability should rule,” he said.
He added that Chaudhry Nisar is an honest interior minister who does not cower in the face of problems.
Today marks 45 years to the Fall of Dhaka, when Pakistan lost a part of the country.
