COAS meets Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

RAWALPINDI/RIYADH: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday met with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the ISPR said.

The COAS is on a three-day visit to the kingdom, where he held a series of meetings today, according to the ISPR.

“The Saudi king and the Army Chief agreed that both the countries share great history of cordial relations and deep spirit of brotherhood which has transformed into an enduring partnership,” the ISPR statement said.

During the meeting, it was also acknowledged that both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are vital players for regional stability.

The leaders reiterated the need to continue working to eliminate the menace of terrorism and to fight against extremism with even greater vigour, the ISPR said.

The meeting was also attended by Crown Prince and Saudi Foreign minister.

The COAS also held a meeting with Deputy Crown Prince and Defence Minister Mohammad bin Salman to discuss matters related to mutual interests and bilateral security cooperation.

According to the ISPR, the Saudi Defence Minster reassured the Army Chief that the kingdom supports peace and stability in Pakistan in every way.

In the meeting, the COAS reiterated Pakistan's commitment to the security and protection of the Holy Mosques and also the territorial integrity of the kingdom, the ISPR stated.

Upon his arrival in Riyadh on Saturday, General Bajwa was accorded a warm welcome by the kingdom's Assistant Defence Minister Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Ayish, the ISPR had said in a statement.
