KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday stated that he has ties with Anwar Majeed. The former president’s close aide Majeed’s house was allegedly raided by law enforcement agencies earlier today.
Zaradri made the comments while speaking to media during a visit to Mazar-e-Quaid on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam's birth anniversary.
“Yes I have relations with Anwar Majeed. As for what happened with him and why it happened, ask the Interior Minister about it,” he said.
Zardari said he was undergoing medical treatment in London and has travelled to Pakistan after permission from doctors.
The former president said he will talk about his party’s four demands on December 27.
He said he is certain Dr Asim will get justice, adding that he remains in contact with Dr Asim and his lawyers.
Zardari said on the occasion Pakistan will strengthen from today onwards and requested all to always stay optimistic.
Today, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Zardari separately visited the Quaid’s tomb today at his birth anniversary. During his visit, Zardari was flanked by CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Farooq H Naik, and others, whereas, Bilawal was accompanied by CM Sindh and provincial cabinet members.
OMNI group denies Majeed's residence raided
It is pertinent to mention that the claim of raid on Majeed's house was flatly denied by the OMNI group. In a press release, the group said that no house located in DHA area belonging to Anwar Majeed or his family was raided by any law enforcement agency today or before.
Law enforcement agencies allegedly (LEAs) conducted a raid at the house of former president Zardari's close aide Anwar Majeed in Defence Housing Authority Phase 8 area, in the early hours of Sunday.
Huge cache of arms was recovered hidden inside the house, according to LEA officials. Two security guards present at the residence were also taken into custody.
