JACOBABAD: The police has arrested three people, including the landlord, who had asked a man to pay Rs1.3 million or give his daughters in compensation for his brother's crime.
The landlord, Abdul Ghaffar Khoso, had made the demand for 'compensation' while the two others were with him in the jirga. Police has also filed cases against others who were present at the jirga in Zubair Khan Khoso Goth situated in Jacobabad, Sindh.
The Supreme Court has also taken notice of the issue after Muhammad Hashim protested outside the press club against the demand made at the jirga.
Hashim's brother was in a relationship with a married woman. A jirga was held over the issue. However, since his brother is not married and Hashim is the eldest in their family, he was asked to either pay Rs1.3 million or give his four-year-old and eight-year-old daughters in 'compensation'.
Hashim said he paid Rs0.7 million, despite coming from a low-income background. However, he added, it was difficult for him to pay the rest of the amount. He had demanded the relevant authorities to protect his family.
