PSL scandal: Three categories created for players questioned

DUBAI: While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that five players were questioned in relation to attempts by an international syndicate to corrupt the Pakistan Super League (PSL), sources place this number at 8-10 players.

According to sources, these players have been divided into three categories.

The first category includes players who accepted the offer from the international syndicate. The second group involves players who received the offer but did not inform the anti-corruption unit. The third and final group consists of players who received the offer and informed the board in line with the anti-corruption code.

Sources further add that those who accepted the offer were sent home, while those who failed to report being approached have been issued a show-cause notice by the PCB. These players have been asked to submit their statement within seven days.  The anti-corruption unit has also recorded statements of players.

According to sources during Friday’s match between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators, Shahzaib Hasan from the Kings was questioned by ICC’s anti-corruption unit during the match and has mobile data was taken.
