Parachinar administrative clerk beats trader over demand for free CCTV camera

PESHAWAR: An administrative clerk in Kurram Agency brutally tortured a local trader when the latter refused to pay money for a CCTV camera, that he had asked for Usmania Market in Parachinar bazaar.

The leader of traders in Parachinar, Alamdar Hussain, told Geo News he asked the administrative clerk, Muhammad Ishtiaq, for a CCTV camera for Usmania Market in Parachinar bazaar. However, Ishtiaq asked him for Rs1,000 to provide a CCTV camera for the market. Hussain was reluctant to pay the money as government funds are available for security measures, such as CCTV cameras. He told Ishtiaq he would not give "extortion" money to him. This ignited the clerk who beat Hussain, leaving him wounded.

The incident agitated traders in Parachinar, who accused the political administration of running the system after taking extortion money taken from locals.

However, Kurram Political Agent Akramullah told Geo News, Ishtiaq was immediately suspended and investigation has been started into the issue.
