FC kills five terrorists in Mohmand search operation

PESHAWAR: Five terrorists were killed during a search operation by Frontier Corps in Mohmand Agency's Ghalanai area on Wednesday, officials said.

The search operation was being conducted in Sheikh Banda, a suburban area of Ghalanai town in Mohmand Agency, an FC spokesman said.

The operation was conducted after a suicide blast in Ghalanai, which left at least five people, including three security forces personnel, dead early Wednesday.

An encounter took place between terrorists and FC personnel during the search raid, the spokesman said.

As a consequence, five terrorists were gunned down. The deceases could not be immediately identified.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, two suicide bombers were on a motorbike – one blew himself up at the main gate of Mohmand Agency headquarters, Ghallanai, while the other was killed by firing of security forces.

A school teacher and a passerby were also killed in the suicide attack.

A while after the first attack, another suicide attacker struck in Mosal Kor area of the same tribal agency.

The attacker detonated explosives when intercepted by security forces personnel, while attempting to enter the office of the political agent.

The second attack resulted in martyrdom of an FC troop.
