FAISALABAD: More than 7,000 bags of sugar were sold at wholesale price of Rs 3450 per 50 kilogram during the last two days through 48 sale points setup under the aegis of City District Government in different parts of the district.
This was informed by District Coordiantion Officer (DCO) Naseem Sadiq while talking to media persons after recovering 35,000 sugar bags from a mills godown at Jaranwala here on Monday.
He said the retailers were bound to sell sugar on fixedprice of Rs 72 per kg even if it was imported sugar or locally made.
He said that 145 fair price shops were also designated in district Faisalabad to sell the sugar at concessional rates.
He told that sufficient stock of sugar was supplied to these fair price shops while 8 sales points were already working in the district for the sale of sugar on subsidized rate of Rs 63 per kg under the instruction of Punjab government.
He said the 16 Price Control Magistrates were deputed to check the price of sugar in the open market and profiteers would not be spared at any cost. He warned the sugar dealers to declare their stocks besides supplying it in the open market, otherwise, their sugar stock would be confiscated.
