KARACHI: There is a 99% chance that the man spotted in the CCTV footage of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar's shrine is the suicide bomber, Sindh IG AD Khawaja said on Sunday.

While talking to the media, he said the footage has been made public so that the public can also help the authorities identify the attacker.

The IG added that police personnel and other law-enforcement agencies had reached the shrine after the deadly blast took place, but it was difficult to collect evidence as the place was crowded with people. However, the available evidence and CCTV footage has helped the police make further progress in the investigation, he remarked.

The police chief maintained that the involvement of Hafeez Brohi group in the attack cannot be disregarded. The Hafeez Brohi group is a network of terrorists in Sindh which is believed to be activating Daesh in the region.

When asked about why the suicide bomber was earlier reported to be dressed in a burqa, the IG did not give a clear answer.

Facilitators arrested

Three facilitators behind the suicide bombing at the Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine have been arrested during search operations in Sindh and Balochistan, sources informed on Sunday.
