Zardari asks Sindh govt to pay Rs10 million to martyred policeman of Sehwan bombing

KARACHI: Former President and Pakistan People's Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari chaired a meeting at the Chief Minister House on Monday where he discussed issues related to police welfare and law and order in the province.

The meeting which was attended by top government officials including Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah came after asuicide attack at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar's shrine killed at least 90 people last week.

During the meeting Zardari directed the provincial government to give police officials who were killed at Sehwan in the line of duty Rs10 million as compensation, sources said. Apart from this, he directed that their families should also be given a house and employment.

In a briefing to Zardari, IG Sindh A.D. Khawaja said that the Sehwan blast killed 90 and injured 351 people. He also briefed the session over important arrests made in the province.

Zardari told the meeting that terrorists from across the border entered Pakistan, and he was aware of the facilitators of terrorism. "We need to improve our governance," he said.
