Militant commander among 15 Baloch rebels surrender to security forces

DERA BUGTI: Kafeel Mengal, a key commander of a banned militant organisation, surrendered to the security forces on Wednesday.

Mengal was also joined by 14 of his accomplices, according to security sources. Mengal also pledged faithfulness to the nation. The militants belong to the outlawed Baloch Republican Army.

The decision to surrender comes on the same day Pakistan Armed Forces launched a nationwide military operation 'Radd-ul-Fasaad', which would include broad-spectrum security and counter-terrorism operations in Punjab, and continuation of ongoing operations across the country.

According to the Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) wing of the Pakistan Army, the operation aims include the elimination of the residual and latent threat of terrorism, consolidating gains of operations made so far and ensuring the security of Pakistan’s borders.

Previously, another key commander of one of Balochistan’s banned outfit and his 11 accomplices had surrendered their arms and decided to join the national mainstream.
