ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) expressed dissatisfaction over writing off the names of policemen involved in Aiwan-e-Adl mishandling of lawyers in Lahore, Geo News reported Wednesday.
Attorney General Punjab said the police carved out its own discrete state within state.
A three-judge SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the case regarding police torture on lawyers at Aiwan-e-Adl, Lahore.
The CJ Chaudhry remarked that police in its inquiry report, absolved all, adding the court will not allow any FIR to be revoked.
He added police unduly and unjustly manhandled young lawyers at Aiwan-e-Adl. When asked by the court, IG Punjab said Faisal Gulzar was the SP at the time of police violence.
The CJ asked if any action was taken against him and went on to say why no DIG or SP was arrested or suspended.
Attorney General Punjab Khawja Haris submitted that police is neither under his control nor does take his advice.
