LAHORE: Foreign players of Peshawar Zalmi and team staffers of Quetta Gladiators reached Allama Iqbal International Airport in the wee hours of Sunday.
Zalmi players Dawid Malan, Marlon Samuels, Darren Sammy and Chris Jordan along with the Quetta Gladiators` Team Mentor Sir Viv Richards, Feilding Coach Julien Fountain and player Sean Ervine, were escorted to a local hotel in a high-level security from the airport.
Security around the airport was beefed up with thousands of security personnel deployed to stand guard during their arrival.
Later, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi welcomed the players on their arrival at the hotel.
A wave of enthusiasm and excitement seems to have taken over people from across Pakistan and abroad for the highly anticipated match. The Gaddafi stadium with a capacity of 27,000 spectators is going to be brimming with fans.
To maintain foolproof security containers and check posts have been set up around the venue while a 25-bed hospital has been established at the stadium and another 7-bed set up at a local hotel in the vicinity.
