Facebook is finally going to have a dislike button—but not where most users want.
The social media site is testing a feature which allows you to use a ‘thumbs down’ emoji in a Facebook Messenger chat.
According to TechCrunch, if you hover over a message by your friend(s) in a chat, you see a range of emojis to select; thumbs-up Like, thumbs-down, dislike, or a heart-eyes, lol, wow, sad, or angry emoji. You can also tap to see reactions by other people on the messages—much like a Facebook post.
“We’re always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging. This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message,” Facebook told TechCrunch.
The feature is still in its testing phase and only select users can see it. If successful, it could be rolled out officially.
Despite strong demand, Facebook still looks in no mood to introduce a ‘dislike’ button for the newsfeed, saying it would make the newsfeed unnecessarily negative.
