MULTAN: Deputy National Coordinator, Dr. Arshad Chandio Friday handed over three hundred thousand rupees cheque on the behalf of Prime Minister of Pakistan to the family of deceased lady health supervisor here.
Dr. Munawar Abbas, the acting Executive District Officer (Health), Dr. Faheem, District Coordinator National Programme, Dr Akhtar Rasheed, Provincial Coordinator Health and other staffers of health department were also present when the cheque was given to the family in Jhangirabad.
They consoled Rehana's brother Mazhar Hussain and her son Jahanzeb. They prayed that may God enable the family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
Rehana Shaheen (35) was mother of two children. Her four-month salary was over due and she committed suicide on Tuesday.
She was a Jahangirabad resident and worked at the Rajapur Basic Health Centre. She,along with other lady health workers, was employed under a programme during the second tenure of Benazir government. Rehana had been protesting for several months over non-payment of salaries.
The monthly salary of these lady health workers is Rs 5000.
