KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party Co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Friday inaugurated the People’s Aman Ambulance Service for Thatta and Sujawal district.
“The state-of-art facility [to serve the] underserved community...is a dream of my mother,” Bilawal said while addressing the launch ceremony at the Chief Minister House.
The service has been launched by the Sindh government in partnership with Aman foundation, and includes 25 “high-quality, life-saving” ambulances.
The ambulances will permit swift service in case of medical emergencies, adding to the health care infrastructure in the areas.
“With the launch of service, women would not have to die or suffer. Their men won’t die due to [absence of medical services],” the PPP co-chairman said.
The launch of the service will also provide job and training opportunities for locals. Bilawal informed the ceremony participants that 210 men and women have been provided medical training to carry out the services.
Praising Aman Foundation’s infrastructure in Karachi, Bilawal said he is “proud to be of service to them and work with them”. The ambulance service will be extended to other parts of Sindh too, he said.
