KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar said the MQM which existed before August 22 suits Sindh government.
Addressing the foundation day gathering of the party here, Sattar said the Pakistan People's Party-led government of Sindh supports pre-August MQM. "The incidents of August 22 may help safeguard the policy of looting the downtrodden people."
The MQM since its inception has been marking its foundation day on March 22 every year, but the splitting of the party led the MQM-Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar to designate March 18 as the foundation day.
He alleged that the PPP's interests do not coincide with Pakistan's. Criticizing the provincial government, MQM-Pakistan chief noted that the opposition leader in Sindh Assembly has not been given time for meeting the chief minister for last three months.
The statements came less than 24 hours of Sattar's arrest by Sindh Police. He was whisked to Chakiwara Police Station but later released after brief detention.
