Local heroes honoured for their efforts in Quetta

QUETTA: To recognise the efforts of everyday heroes an award ceremony was held in the city on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai was the chief guest at the event, which was held at Governor House on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by Commander Southern Command Lt General Amir Riaz, provincial ministers, provincial assembly members as well as other civil and military officials participated.

In the ceremony, local heroes were recognised for their brilliant performance in their respective fields. Four people were given national honours while 11 were presented with provincial awards.

Balochistan University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Javed Iqbal was awarded for his contribution in the field of education. Journalist Shahzada Zulfiqar was awarded with presidential pride award for dedicating 27 years of his life to the field. Zulfiqar has worked in both print and electronic media and served as head of Balochistan Press Club and Balochistan Union of Journalist.

Radio Pakistan’s female announcer Zainab Baloch and famous writer Abdul Qayyum Bedar were presented with medals of distinction.
