Sugar shortage in Multan

MULTAN: Like suburban areas of Khanewal, Kabirwala, Talamba and Mian Channu, Multan also face shortage of sugar.

people are finding it hard to get a bag of sugar. It is available at some outlets, but the shopkeepers are charging the price of their choice.

Though commissioner Multan Mohammad Ali Gardezi has taken strict notice of the shortage and its sale at higher prices in a meeting, the situation has not improved.

District Coordination Officer Khanewal Qazi Ishfaq Qureshi has taken notice of the shortage and ordered price magistrates to expedite the campaign against profiteers and hoarders.

"The Trading Corporation of Pakistan has started the supply of sugar to district Khanewal which was stopped durin Eid holidays," he added.

In Talamba, sugar is selling at Rs 150/kg.

People from different walks of life demanded of the authorities to launch a crackdown against the sugar mafia.
