QUETTA: Lieutenant General Aamir Riaz, Commander Southern Command visited different areas of the city to oversee conduct of the ongoing census.
He was given detailed briefing on progress of census in Quetta.
Talking to citizens Commander Southern Command highlighted the importance of census. People present at various locations appreciated the professionalism and dedication of Army troops.
Commander Southern Command reiterated the resolve of ensuring unbiased conduct of census for which all out efforts by civil – military staff is being put in. Senior government, military and provincial census authorities were also present.
The first phase of the sixth national population census – the first in 19 years – concluded in 63 districts of the country on Tuesday.
According to chief statistician Asif Bajwa, as many as 118,000 enumerators from different departments, including the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, have been trained for the process. 175,000 Army personnel were deployed in the districts for the first phase of the census.
