CTD guns down five Al-Qaeda terrorists in Gujrat

GUJRAT: At least five suspected terrorists were gunned down by the Counter Terrorism Department personnel in a raid on early Thursday morning.

According to reports, three of their close associates managed to flee from the spot, however, a heavy cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the raid.

CTD claimed that the terrorists, affiliated with a proscribed organisation, were planning to target public sites of Gujrat and Khariyaan.

Earlier in February, six terrorists were killed in a shootout at Chak 98 by the CTD.

The suspected deceased were affiliated with the banned terror group, Al-Qaeda Tehreek-e-Taliban. The said group took responsibility for the suicide blast in Lahore in which at least 14 people, including senior police officers, were martyred.
