BERLIN: A multicultural audience gathered to celebrate the Persian New Year and the Spring Festival at the Ethnologische Museum, which featured musical performances and stalls from embassies from various countries.
The Nowruz festival marks the start of the Persian new year and is celebrated with games, dances, music and food in Iran and Central Asian states.
The Embassy of Pakistan also participated in the festival held on March 26.
Ten Muslim countries including Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkey helped make the event colourful. Embassies of various countries also put up stalls showcasing their cultural heritage and handicrafts.
The attendees were enthralled by Sufi Qawali performances by Pakistani Qawal Ustad Shabbir Khan Gullu. Artists belonging to other countries also presented beautiful musical and dance performances on traditional and contemporary music.
Pakistani stalls showcased locally made handicrafts, embroidered accessories, books, and brochures on Pakistan. The stall was visited by a large number of participants of diverse nationalities, who expressed keen interest especially in the artefacts. The delicious Pakistani cuisine remained the main attraction for the visitors and participants.
