COAS hails role of overseas Pakistanis in country's progress

A reception was hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in London in the honour of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who is on an official visit to the UK, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement Tuesday.

COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa interacted with UK-based Pakistani community during the event and apprised them about the environment in Pakistan and the country’s achievements in efforts against terrorism and militancy.

The Army Chief hailed the role of overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan’s progress and assured them that the Pakistan Army shall continue to perform its due role towards security of the country.

Earlier on arrival, Gen Bajwa was received by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Syed Ibne Abbas.

COAS Gen Bajwa visited UK Ministry of Defence on Monday, where he was received by UK CGS General Sir Nick Carter and given the guard of honour at Horse Guards Square.

Later during the day, the Army Chief also had separate meetings with UK Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, Special Representative on Afghanistan and Pakistan Owen Jenkins and US Resolute Support Mission (RSM) Commander General John Nicholson.
