Two suspects killed in Kasur 'encounter'

KASUR: Two suspects were killed in an 'encounter' in Kasur late Tuesday night, law enforcement officials said, while two of their accomplices managed to flee.

Police had picketed near Baba Kamil Shah graveyard in Kasur, where they signalled four suspected persons to stop by, said DPO Kasur Ali Nasir Rizvi.

But the suspects sneaked into the graveyard and opened fire on the cops, he explained.

The retaliatory fire by the police left two suspects dead, while two others managed to escape from the scene, Rizvi said.

The deceased were identified as Mazhar and Liaquat, who were said to be wanted in nearly 40 cases involving serious offences.

The law enforcers have launched a manhunt for the other two accomplices of the deceased.
