RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Rangers Punjab conducted an Intelligence-based Operation on Sunday in Dera Ghazi Khan (Chhera Thal), killing five terrorists, said an ISPR statement.
According to the ISPR, two high-level terrorists were killed in the raid. Zulfiqar alias Zulfi was wanted in seven FIRs and had close links with BLA Harbiyar Murree group.
The other, Peer Baksh alias Peera had Rs 0.2million head money and wanted in 15 cases, the ISPR further said.
Punjab Rangers’ Sepoy Kamran embraced martyrdom in the exchange of fire between the Rangers and the suspected terrorists, while Deputy Superintendent Rangers Haroon was injured and evacuated to CMH Multan.
The funeral prayers of shaheed Sepoy kamran were offered at Multan Garrison. The prayers were attended by Lieutenant General Sarfraz Sattar, Corps Commander Multan, DG Rangers Punjab Major General Azhar Naveed Hayat, serving and retired military officials.
The body of the martyred will be taken to his home town, Juranawala, where he will be buried with full military honour, the ISPR said.
The raid was carried out in Chhera Thal area, 40 km southwest of Fort Manro, as part of the wider Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, the ISPR said.
Earlier today, security forces thwarted a terror plot during an operation near Chaman. At least two suspected terrorists were arrested and around 80 kilograms of explosives were seized during the operation, ISPR said.
