Anti-measles drive to be launched in Lahore, Rawalpindi

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir directed on Sunday that anti-measles drives should be launched in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Kasur.

The decision was announced in the monthly Chief Executive Officers (Health) meeting at the Directorate General Health Services Punjab.

Challenge for tuberculosis resurgence and revamping of programme was also highlighted in the meeting.

Nazir emphasised the implementation of safe blood transfusion initiative as per provincial guidelines. He immediately transferred Secretary Blood Transfusion Authority Dr Nauman and directed him to report the department.

Director EPI Dr Munir Ahmed said case of supplementary measles campaign would be discussed in group meeting of National Immunization Technical Advisory.

The meeting also reviewed the status of implementation of development schemes as well as human resource requirements in the province.

The meeting was chaired by Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique and Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir while Director General Health Services Dr Faisal Zahoor, Chief Executive Officers (Health) of all districts, Chief Minister Roadmap team, PITB, Policy and Strategic Planning Unit, UNICEF, WHO and others participated.
