Policeman martyred in firing incident in Lakki Marwat

The deceased policeman was travelling to the mosque when unknown person opened fire on him

LAKKI MARWAT: A policeman was martyred when unknown persons opened fire on him in Lakki Marwat on Wednesday.

The deceased policeman, Momin Khan, was travelling to the mosque from Tijori police station when unidentified persons fired live rounds on him in Lakki Marwat's tribal area, Tijori Bazaar.

Khan did not sustain the injuries and died on spot. His funeral prayers were held at Police Line Lakki Marwat.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ali Khattak and District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Khalid attended the funeral prayers.

The police launched a search operation for suspects involved in the incident.

Late Tuesday, a suspect was killed in an encounter with police in Karachi, while four 'gangsters' among eight suspects were arrested in different raids, officials claimed.

Police raided a house located near Dubai Chowk in Lyari late on Tuesday night, the police said. Suspects inside the house opened fire on the law enforcers as soon as they spotted them.

A suspect was killed in retaliatory firing by the police. The deceased was said to be affiliated with Baba Ladla group.

Officials also claimed to have recovered weapons and a hand grenade that had belonged to the deceased suspect.
