PML-N to oppose RGST in NA: Nawaz
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday decided to strongly oppose the Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST) bill in upcoming session of the National Assembly.

" The PML-N will oppose the RGST strongly in the National Assembly and it has also decided to contact the other political parties in this regard," said PML-N Chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here on Monday.

Addressing the party's central organizing committee at the Punjab House, he said with the imposition of RGST there would be further price-hike and it would directly affect the common man.

Nawaz Sharif suggested the federal government to improve the existing tax system, which has potential to generate sufficient revenues. He said the Parliament was getting strength, adding "When all important decisions will be taken in the Parliament, democratic institutions and norms will get more strength."

The PML-N chief said active participation of workers in the party's re-organizational matters was reflective of the democratic culture being followed by the PML-N. He said the party workers played important role in restoration of democratic process in the country and hoped that they would continue with the same spirit for the promotion of democratic norms.

Earlier, senior leader of PML-N Senator Ishaq Dar apprised the meeting about the decisions of the Parliament's Constitutional Reforms Committee.
